Tax bills will be sent out in early September. If you haven’t received your property tax bill by the end of September, need another copy, or have questions about payments, please contact Town Treasurer Don Welch at (802) 223-3313 x 207 or treasurer@eastmontpeliervt.org. If you have questions or issues that could more appropriately be handled at the state level, please contact Vermont Taxpayer Services at (802) 828-2865.

The first installment will be due by 5:00 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2020.

November General Election Ballots will be automatically mailed to all active voters beginning in late September. No request is needed.

Much of the work will be along the sides of the US Rte. 2/VT Rte. 14 corridor, but there will a significant amount of work intruding at least partially into a travel lane, so there will be traffic disruptions off-and-on throughout the next three months. This should be a weekday, daytime issue — there is no weekend or night work planned at this point.

For the week of August 24 – 28: Monday through Wednesday [Added 08/25: Due to the weather, paving will also occur on Thursday] will have continued paving and associated preparatory work for the paving. On Friday the necessary line striping will be done. Throughout the week you’ll see pouring of the final sidewalk sections as well as finish work on the lawn areas. You should expect to see delays due to one-way traffic. As always, please drive with caution through the work zone. When necessary, flaggers will be on site to assist motorists. There may also be a uniformed traffic officer directing traffic at the northern intersection.

The work is being funded largely by a series of Vermont Agency of Transportation Bicycle & Pedestrian Program grants. This project marks the culmination of 12 years of VTrans-led improvements to the corridor area, including the two intersection projects, the replacement of the Village Bridge, and the construction of the park ‘n ride facility.

People needing access to the town records will be required to make appointments. Access will be controlled by Town Clerk Rosie Laquerre. No more than one person will be allowed access at a time. Due to Governor Scott’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order direct access to the town records is currently limited. Please contact Town Clerk Rosie Laquerre for further information.

Non-essential, indoor, in-person town committee/board meetings & events are also canceled until further notice. The Selectboard will meet as necessary. The public will be encouraged to attend those meetings remotely — options for doing that will be provided on the town’s website and on the posted meeting notices. Note: On March 30th the Selectboard altered the committee meeting restriction to allow for remote-only (with participation options for the public) meetings. On June 1st the board added the option to hold meetings outdoors. You can see the updated Selectboard order here:
